Under this programme DSR has adopted 10 villages for feild line demonstrations (FLD) Viz, Kushmaur, Kahinaur, Paniara, Onaich, Etaura, Khiria, Bangli, Pinzara, Harpur and Khanderaipur, in which Farmers were selected from adopted villages and provided with quality seeds in order to popularize the quality seed production technologies in the rural areas. The periodical visits were made to the farmers’ field and the suitable package of practices was recommended to the farmers and they were motivated to adopt quality Seeds for the crop production. Under this programme the following activities have been carried out. This programme is being coordinated by Dr. Arvind Nath Singh Scientist.
Rabi-2010-11 Wheat
About 50 farmers were selected from the adopted villages and distributed quality seeds of wheat. Their fields were monitored from time to time and recommended improved package of practices by monitoring team. The fields under this programme were visited by Dr. J. S Sandhu, ADG (Seed), ICAR, New Delhi. He interacted with the associated farmers and appreciated the programme. Kharif2011 Paddy About 50 farmers were selected from the adopted villages and distributed with quality seeds of paddy. Their fields were monitored from time to time and recommended improved package of practices by the monitoring team
Rabi-2011-12 DSR is conducting seed village programme, in which the farmers will be given small quantity of quality seed. Farmers will multiply the same at their field under the supervision of DSR scientists and the produced seed will be used as a seed for next season for their own field and excess seed will be sold to the neighboring farmers. By this way the horizontal spread of quality seed would be taking place. In this connection, for this Rabi season 2011-12 the quality seed was distributed by Dr. S Rajendra Prasad, Project
Director, and DSR on 25 November to the farmers. About 50 wheat farmers were selected from the DSR adopted villages and distributed with quality seeds of Variety of PBW- 550.

For the benefits of the farmers and extension workers Directorate organizes training, field day, Gosthis and Melas every year. In this year field day was conducted on 21 October, 2011 at DSR. About three hundred farmers from nearby villages were invited and shown result of
recent technologies in seed production especially saline & alkaline soil reclamation adopted by DSR. The farmers shown keen interest to adopt newer technologies especially for production of quality seeds.

“Science Direct Awareness and Discussion Session”
Directorate of Seed Research in collaboration with Consortium of e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) and Elsevier South Asia (Pvt) Ltd, Gurgaon, India has organized a training programme on “Science Direct Awareness and Discussion Session” on 13.09.2012 to discuss about the use of science direct online scientific literature search database. Dr. Rajendra Prasad S. Project Director, DSR introduced the speaker Mr. Tanumoy Misra, Product trainer, from Elseveir India (Pvt) Ltd, Gurgaon, India and the importance of the topic to all scientific and technical staffs. The different search tools for extraction of data from subscribed journals and unique alert mechanisms available at science direct search engine were discussed in the session with modern state of art visual aid using on-line live presentation along with active question & answer session. Dr. Dhandapani R scientist in-charge, library profusely thanked all the participants and coordinated the session.
